In Short:
- A special Signature Edition of Farming Simulator has been revealed for the Switch 2
- Giants Software is set to release the Switch 2 exclusive, inspired by Farming Simulator 25, later this winter
- It remains to be seen if FSSS will introduce unique content or features beyond those in FS25
Farming Simulator Edition: Coming this winter, Farming Simulator Signature Edition is Giants Software’s latest announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2, drawing from the content of Farming Simulator 25.
As of early 2025, the Farming Simulator series, which began in 2008—has expanded to 15 main titles and sold around 40 million copies, solidifying its place as a genre-defining franchise.
Now focusing on the Nintendo Switch 2, Giants Software has announced Farming Simulator Signature Edition. Though positioned as a Switch 2 exclusive, it appears to be a repackaged version of Farming Simulator 25.
Drawing from the 2024 edition, Farming Simulator SE includes 400 pieces of equipment sourced from 150 global brands.
Players can explore three diverse maps and grow 25 different crops across farmland in North America, Europe, and East Asia.
How Farming Simulator Signature Edition Might Vary From FS25
Much like Farming Simulator Switch Edition, an adapted version of Farming Simulator 17 released soon after the 2017 Nintendo console—Farming Simulator Signature Edition shares a similar approach and timing.
Multiplayer, modding, and DLC were not included, likely due to the platform’s hardware limitations, though this was never officially stated.
Given the enhanced capabilities of the Switch 2, Giants Software may find it easier to implement new Nintendo-specific features such as ModHub support. That said, the company has not yet detailed any significant distinctions between Farming Simulator 25. and Signature Edition.
Scheduled for release sometime this winter from late December 2025 to March 2026, Farming Simulator Signature Edition will debut as one of the first third-party exclusives on Switch 2, alongside launch titles like Fast Fusion, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Survival Kids.
After releasing Farming Simulator Switch Edition, Giants Software introduced two more installments for Nintendo’s original hybrid platform, typically on a three-year cycle. If this release pattern persists, Switch 2 owners might have to wait until around 2028 for another Farming Simulator title.
However, it doesn’t imply that the upcoming Nintendo console will lack farming sims or titles with similar mechanics.
The Switch 2 lineup includes My Time at Evershine, with many more cozy titles expected to follow, spurred by their popularity on Nintendo’s 2017 console. Additionally, a new mainline Animal Crossing game is expected to release during the Switch 2’s active years.
