Stellar Blade Works On PC Even In PSN-Restricted Regions

In Short:

  • Even if your region lacks PSN support, Stellar Blade will still be playable on PC
  • No one knows exactly why this game is an exception, but it might be due to Sony not owning Shift Up
  • Gamers worldwide can access the Stellar Blade demo, which is available in around 250 regions

Stellar Blade PC: The PC version of Stellar Blade is on track for a global launch, despite fears of it being limited by PSN region rules.

Sony’s policy of requiring a PSN account for certain Steam games has stirred mixed reactions. For users in PSN-supported countries, it’s a minor bother.

But for those in unsupported regions, which make up the majority, since PSN works in only 69 countries, it’s a serious restriction. Sony also prohibits region spoofing to get around it.

Helldivers 2 sparked the controversy last year when, long after launch, Sony announced that players would need to connect their Steam accounts to PSN to keep playing.

For many without PSN access, this felt like the game was being taken away. The backlash was loud enough that Sony eventually backed down.

Well, the reason Stellar Blade avoids these limits might be because Sony isn’t the game’s developer or full owner, Shift Up remains independent, unlike PlayStation’s in-house teams.

Now, with availability in almost 250 global regions, Stellar Blade’s demo is widely accessible, Shift Up noted on social media, though it remains blocked in some areas like Russia, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar.

Stellar Blade debuted on June 11, 2024. Shift Up made a deal for a one-year PlayStation 5 exclusivity window. Because of this, the PC release will happen on June 11, 2025. Players who try the demo will keep their progress when they upgrade to the full game.

Shift Up is already moving forward with Stellar Blade 2, as an internal presentation shows. The next game is slated for release before 2027, which most likely points to next year since the original came out just a year ago.
