Elden Ring: Nightreign Sees Immediate Patch to Make Solo Play Better

In Short:

  • Elden Ring Nightreign is still fresh, but certain areas are already frustrating players
  • The clearest case is in solo expeditions. They’re a touch easier alone, yet still extremely challenging
  • FromSoftware has assured fans that a new update next week will help balance the difficulty

Despite just launching, Elden Ring: Nightreign solo mode is so challenging that Bandai has confirmed an update is coming.

Everyone knows FromSoftware games are tough, and Nightreign keeps that tradition alive, but there’s something about its challenge that feels new and intense.

Nightreign breaks from typical Soulslike design by encouraging online play with two teammates. Solo play is possible, but not ideal, which has left many players struggling.

Elden Ring: Nightreign Update Will Ease the Struggle for Solo Gamers

Nightreign’s late-night launch has brought feedback fast. Players report solo play is brutally tough yet not surprising, since it’s a multiplayer game at heart. But having a single-player option has left some players with the worst possible experience

That very experience should improve soon. In a tweet, the Elden Ring team thanked players and announced Patch 1.02, coming next week, which will address bugs and rebalance solo expedition difficulty.

Elden Ring’s Twitter gave a sneak peek of the solo expedition updates ahead of the full patch. Players can look forward to more runes and an “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat” that works once per night boss fight.
