Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Face Criticism, Yet Grading Interest Among Collectors Rises

Switch 2 Game-Key: Although the Nintendo Switch 2 is still fresh on shelves and its game roster is small, collectors are wasting no time embracing the graded collectible scene.

Reddit users recently highlighted a CGC-graded 9.9 sealed copy of Street Fighter 6 for the Nintendo Switch 2, drawing attention not for the score, but for what’s inside, or rather, what isn’t.

This version is a Game Key Card, offering only digital access. The bundled Year 1 and 2 DLC comes via a download code with a strict expiration date of June 5, 2027, raising concerns about the game’s future usability.

From Niche to Mainstream: Switch 2 Game-Key Graded Games Dominate the Collector Scene

The collectible space, once dominated by graded comics and Pokémon cards, is now seeing a surge of interest in graded video games as a new and rapidly growing category.

The demand for graded games is now large enough that CGC has opened a dedicated video game grading wing. Starting at $40, collectors can submit sealed games and choose optional upgrades like cleaning to enhance value.

On eBay, searching “Graded Video Game” pulls up more than 15,000 results, ranging from modern titles to collectible classics—such as a near-mint 9.8 copy of Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 for PS1 priced at $139.95.

The $139.95 listing may seem steep, but it pales in comparison to another eBay entry: a sealed Ocarina of Time priced at $85,000. With collectors driving prices upward, it’s entirely possible a Switch 2 copy of Street Fighter 6 could someday sell for $50,000.
