Final Fantasy 16 On Switch 2: From a PlayStation 5 exclusive in 2023 to a PC release and a stealth drop on Xbox Series X/S in 2024, Final Fantasy 16 has nearly completed its console tour, with the Nintendo Switch being the only one left behind.
Well, that could be changing soon.
Per Video Games Chronicle, producer Yoshi-P acknowledged in a livestream that Nintendo is the “last” remaining platform. Creative director Maehiro joined in, saying, “I’ll do my best,” igniting fresh hopes for a Switch port.
While it’s a major tease, we still don’t know when the port could arrive, whether it’ll be restricted to Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch 2.

Final Fantasy 16’s arrival on Xbox marks a major milestone, making it the only console where fans can play almost the entire main series, barring the elusive FF11.
While Xbox may lead in series completeness, the Switch isn’t far behind. Other than FF11, it’s only missing Final Fantasy 13 and 15. With FF7 Remake confirmed and the other parts likely en route, it may soon catch up.
FF16 landing on the Switch seems like a natural fit. The only thing that might stop it? Xbox’s sluggish sales. Still, with Yoshi-P at the helm, there’s strong hope it’ll still happen.
