Prior to launch day, Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have been spotted at various Target locations in the U.S.

Target stores in the United States are already holding Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in locked cages ahead of the official June 5, 2025 launch. A Reddit post by a Target employee, later deleted, revealed that about 40 consoles had arrived at their location.

While the image shows only generic boxes inside a cage, the hardware’s official packaging remains unseen. Fortunately, X users archived the post prior to its removal.

YouTuber Jake Randall provided further proof with an image of Switch 2 consoles secured in a cage on the store floor, supporting the now-deleted Reddit image and confirming the hardware inside.

The debut of Nintendo Switch 2 will feature first-party games like Mario Kart World and Switch 2 Welcome Tour, along with improved versions of established titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Third-party releases like Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, and Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut are also set to arrive on the platform.

Scheduled for release in July 2025, Donkey Kong: Bonanza will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, while The Duskbloods’ launch date remains unknown. Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are also planned for this year on the new console, with no official release dates yet.

A total of 12 Switch games will be upgraded for free on the Switch 2, featuring higher resolution, smoother frame rates, and GameShare support to allow multiple players access from a single game purchase.

A developer revealed that Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition on Switch 2 will include mouse support.
