New Scott Pilgrim Game Sequel Confirmed After Years of Anticipation

Scott Pilgrim EX, the long-awaited sequel to the 2010 beat ’em up, was just announced at Summer Game Fest.

Confirmed in the new trailer, the game keeps the side-scrolling brawler style and will hit PC and console sometime in 2026.

Though it introduces a new narrative, Scott Pilgrim EX remains true to the world’s spirit, featuring Toronto overrun by vegans, robots, and demons.

Although the final count will be seven playable characters, just like the original, only Scott and Ramona are confirmed for now, hinting at a possible shake-up in the character lineup since the exes are no longer the villains.

The game features involvement from series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley and is developed by Tribute Games, a studio made up of original game devs, while Anamanaguchi returns to handle the soundtrack.

We’re witnessing a Scott Pilgrim revival. The first game returned in 2010 as the Complete Edition after being delisted for licensing reasons.

Then, in 2023, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off premiered on Netflix, long after the original comics and movie. Now, an unexpected new game brings the beloved characters back in a fresh adventure.

Scott Pilgrim EX will be available on PC and consoles, though which consoles exactly are still unknown. The prior re-release of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game landed on PC, Switch, Xbox One, and PS4, suggesting EX might do the same.

The game was initially available digitally on Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade and PS3 through PlayStation Network starting August 2010, then delisted in December 2014.

The Complete Edition was re-released on January 14, 2021, for Switch, PS4, Windows, Xbox One, and Stadia.
