In Short:

  • During 2022, Yacht Club Games turned to Kickstarter to back their new intellectual property
  • With the title Mina the Hollower, the campaign rapidly exceeded its $311,000 target, pulling in over $370,000
  • Following three years of anticipation, the release is scheduled for Halloween

Mina the Hollower, a new game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, began its Kickstarter journey in 2022. Now, three years later, it’s scheduled to release on October 31

With a nostalgic 8-bit style reminiscent of the Game Boy Color, Mina the Hollower invites players to join the heroine on a mission to free a cursed island. The recent Summer Game Fest trailer offered a fantastic preview, alongside the announcement of its release date.

If Halloween feels too far away, try the Mina the Hollower demo on Steam. Released with the date announcement, it’s open until June 16 and includes the entire first level plus the first boss fight. Your progress in the demo will carry over when the full game launches.

While Mina the Hollower’s release is confirmed only for PC at the moment, Shovel Knight’s widespread console popularity suggests Mina will make its way to other systems too.

Also, you probably won’t need a high-end machine to run it, as it looks ideal for the Steam Deck.

With a 2nd Generation Intel Core graphics card and 512MB of memory, which is standard in most PCs, you’ll be able to run the game. Time to bring that worn-out laptop back to life and try the demo.
