Mecha Break Developers Respond to Fans With Game-Changing Updates

Mecha BREAK launched its open beta on Steam to strong buzz, impressing players with its fast and fluid combat system and diverse mech lineup. It offered both objective-based and deathmatch modes in 3v3 and 6v6 formats.

But its most original addition was Mashmak, a PvPvE mode where teams of three go head-to-head and take on fearsome bosses in a race for powerful mod upgrades.

Though the gameplay in Mecha BREAK’s beta was positively received, players flagged a number of issues, particularly around balance and accessibility.

Striker mods were seen as overpowered by some, and others called out the time-consuming grind to access new content.

Executive producer Kris Kwok, speaking to Game Rant, acknowledged the feedback and explained how each concern is being carefully tackled by the dev team.

At launch, Mecha BREAK includes a linear single-player tutorial to help new players understand mechanics and objectives.

Still, many veteran gamers found it unnecessary given the presence of a training mode. Kwok revealed that letting players skip the tutorial was one of the development team’s initial quality-of-life improvements.

Amazing Seasun Games made a bold, unexpected move: eliminating the grind entirely by making every Striker available at launch. While most players hoped for a shorter grind, getting rid of it altogether is a major win for accessibility and could reshape how future content is introduced.

In response to open beta feedback, Kwok outlined additional quality-of-life improvements beyond skippable tutorials and immediate Striker access. A major shift involves the mods system: these upgrades will now only apply within Mashmak mode, preserving balance in the core 3v3 and 6v6 gameplay.

This change should reassure competitive players worried about gear advantages. More community-inspired enhancements are on the horizon.

Significant balance changes to Strikers were also addressed by Kwok, who explained the development team’s methodology. “We rely on pick data, victory rates, and ELO-based performance,” he said. “Our goal is to make every Striker feel useful in specific situations, not to flatten the meta with equal power levels.”
