In Game Purchases: After the successful release of Mario Kart World for the new Nintendo Switch 2, attention has turned to Donkey Kong Bananza, set to launch in July.
Nintendo recently showcased a dedicated Bananza Direct, revealing numerous details, including the exciting transformations Donkey Kong can unlock.
Still, one piece of information has stirred some concern, the eShop page for Bananza confirms that the game includes in-game purchases.
In Game Purchases Can Cover A Wide Range of Features In Switch Titles
Well, players can access optional in-game purchases using real currency, including content like bonus levels, cosmetic skins, background music, virtual coins, and various upgrades or subscriptions.
The inclusion of a purchasing label might suggest in-game currency, but it’s more likely tied to the game’s Nintendo Switch Online components, which depend on a real-money subscription.
Even Super Mario Bros. Wonder carries this ESRB disclaimer, though it doesn’t feature any such purchases, reinforcing the idea that Nintendo Switch Online is the reason for the label.
In other words, it doesn’t sound like there is much to worry about when it comes to these fabled “In-Game Purchases.” Of course, we could all be wrong, and bananas will be for sale, but recent history suggests that it’s a necessary disclaimer for NSO functionality.
