Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Confirm Mid-July Tera Raid Event for Trainers

Trainers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will soon face Kommo-o the Unrivaled in a new Seven-Star Tera Raid battle, revealed on July 6. The rare raid event will take place twice in mid-July across Paldea for those hoping to catch this mighty foe.

Kommo-o, the Scaly Pokémon, made its debut in Pokémon Sun and Moon and is the final form of Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o. As a pseudo-legendary Dragon and Fighting-type, it uses its scales to emit loud noises that scare away weaker enemies.

Its battle style blends high physical defense with mixed offensive potential, highlighted by Clangorous Soul to boost all stats and powerful moves like Aura Sphere, Earthquake, and Clanging Scales.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can obtain Kommo-o by capturing Jangmo-o in Kitakami and evolving it fully.

• Kommo-o the Unrivaled will be featured in Seven-Star Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

• The first event window runs from July 10 to July 13, 2025.

• A second chance to catch Kommo-o will be available from July 17 to July 20, 2025.

• Kommo-o will appear with a Fighting Tera Type, altering its typical battle strengths.

• One of its expected moves includes the powerful Clanging Scales.

• Using Fairy-type Pokémon is highly recommended to exploit its Tera Type weakness.

• Players are also encouraged to neutralize Kommo-o’s ability for a more manageable fight.

Soundproof and Bulletproof are Kommo-o’s standard abilities in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, blocking sound-based moves like Metal Sound and projectiles like Acid Spray, respectively.

Its hidden ability, Overcoat, protects it from environmental damage such as Sandstorm.

To shut Kommo-o down, consider removing its abilities with Worry Seed or Skill Swap, and be prepared to eliminate boosts from Clangorous Soul or Swords Dance to prevent it from sweeping.

Though Kommo-o poses a significant threat, its Fairy and Flying weaknesses remain exploitable.
